The BPM Festival: Malta has been cancelled due to COVID-19.
Today (July 31), event organizers announced that “in light of the recent increase in Covid-19 cases over the past week, The BPM Festival: Malta can no longer take place in a safe manner.”
Intended to take place September 11-13, the show was set to feature a who’s who of the global house and techno scene, with headliners including Nina Kraviz, Amelie Lens, Maceo Plex, Honey Dijon, Charlotte de Witte, Adam Bayer and Fatboy Slim.
It was to be the longstanding festival’s debut on the Mediterranean island (located between Sicily and the North African coast) and an expansion of the BPM brand, which currently features festivals in Costa Rica and Portugal. Full ticket refunds are being offered.
The BPM Festival: Malta was one of the few major dance events still left on the calendar for 2020. On July 20, Kansas event Dancefestopia announced the cancellation of its 2020 event after headliners including G Jones and Apashe backed out due to concerns regarding COVID-19. EDC Las Vegas remains scheduled for October 2-4.
